PUBLICATION ETHICS & EDITORIAL POLICIES

Publication Ethics & Editorial Policies

The Aestheticians Journal is committed to maintaining responsible, transparent and ethical publishing practices. Authors, reviewers and editorial personnel are expected to uphold standards of scientific integrity throughout the publication process.

Authorship and Contributor Responsibility

All listed authors should have made an appropriate contribution to the work and should be able to take responsibility for their contribution.

Authors should provide accurate author information, qualifications, professional designations and affiliations.

Originality

Submitted manuscripts must be original and must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts do not contain inappropriate reuse of previously published material.

Plagiarism

The journal does not accept plagiarism or inappropriate reproduction of text, ideas, data or other published material without appropriate attribution.

Duplicate or Redundant Publication

Authors should not submit or publish substantially overlapping work as separate manuscripts without appropriate justification and disclosure.

Fabrication and Falsification

Fabrication or falsification of research data, clinical information, images, results or other scientific content is unacceptable.

Image Integrity

Clinical and scientific images must accurately represent the reported findings. Manipulation that misrepresents, obscures or alters relevant scientific or clinical information is not acceptable.

Patient Consent and Confidentiality

For case-based articles and clinical images, appropriate patient consent must be obtained where required.

Patient-identifying information should not be unnecessarily disclosed.

Ethics Approval

Where research involves human participants or requires ethical oversight, appropriate ethics approval or an applicable ethical declaration should be provided according to the nature of the study.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers and editors should disclose relevant conflicts of interest that could influence the preparation, review or publication of an article.

Funding

Authors should disclose relevant sources of financial support where applicable.

AI-Assisted Tools

Authors may use AI tools for basic spelling, grammar and language correction.

Any substantive use of AI for generating or substantially rewriting content, developing scientific interpretations, analysing or generating data, or creating scientific figures or images must be disclosed, including the tool used and its purpose.

Authors remain responsible for verifying the accuracy, originality and integrity of AI-assisted content, references, data, images and scientific claims.

Peer-Review Ethics

Reviewers must maintain confidentiality, provide objective assessments and disclose conflicts of interest. Manuscripts should not be used for personal, professional or commercial advantage during the review process.

Corrections

If a significant error is identified after publication, the journal may publish an appropriate correction or amendment to maintain the accuracy of the published record.

Retractions

Where serious errors, unreliable findings, misconduct or other circumstances substantially compromise the integrity of a published article, the journal may consider retraction or another appropriate editorial action.

Complaints and Appeals

Authors may raise legitimate concerns regarding editorial or publication decisions through the journal's editorial office.

Complaints and appeals will be considered by the appropriate editorial authority with the aim of maintaining a fair and transparent process.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on the scientific, clinical, ethical and editorial merits of the manuscript and should not be influenced by commercial interests.

Advertising and Commercial Content

Advertising, sponsorship and commercial relationships should remain separate from editorial decision-making and should not determine the acceptance, rejection or scientific presentation of manuscripts.
